With a shared passion for unique design, exquisite craftsmanship and a distinctive look, Fendi and Gentle Monster join forces to present a new collaboration: Gentle Fendi. The Italian house and the South Korean brand have worked hand-in-hand to create two new models of sunglasses, presented by the multidisciplinary Russian collective AES+F.
The video stars three different models dressed head-to-toe in Fendi and rocking the two new frames: Gentle Fendi No.1 and No.2. Set on a background featuring a marble balustrade and a dome (which could perfectly be in Rome, Fendi’s hometown), Gentle Monster’s futuristic and unexpected twist is translated into a series of digitally-created, alien-inspired shapes that contribute to a surreal, uncanny and magical atmosphere.

The collaboration is just like that: combining the Italian house’s heritage and know-how with the South Korean’s brand more futuristic and daring approach, the resulting frames are two unisex models encapsulating the best of each. The Gentle Fendi No. 1 are made of acetate and metal, include bold logos, and are rather small. On the other hand, the Gentle Fendi No. 2 are made of metal and are more oversized.

Because art is at the core of both Fendi and Gentle Monster, clients who visit some of their exclusively selected stores around the world – Fendi Roma Palazzo, New York Madison, or Hong Kong, and Gentle Monster London, Shanghai or Sinsa Seoul, among others – will find themselves immersed in the 360º, revolving installations created especially for the release. A very special occasion that will be celebrated with two different events: one in Seoul on May 7, and another one in Beijing on May 14. Expect buzzing activity, A-list guests, DJs, and special activities.

Furthermore, for those with a sweet tooth, they’ll install a café from May 7 until the end of July in Gentle Monster’s store in Seoul, where they’ll serve a Steccolecco Gentle Fendi ice-cream (and other sweets and desserts). In Beijing, from May 7 to June 1, the brand’s space will feature the interactive installation The Observer, where several artists will play live. So, get ready for summer with the best shades and, if you happen to be or visit one of the two Asian cities, stop by and treat yourself!
